**Step 5:** On the Secret Recovery Phrase screen, tick the box 'I am ready to back up the wallet,' then 'Continue.' A screen with a hidden 24-word recovery phrase will appear. Click on the 'Eye' icon to unhide your recovery phrase.

In any case, please keep this Secret Recovery Phrase safe and do not share it with anyone.
Tick the box 'I saved my Secret Recovery Phrase,' and it's all done!

How to create a new Demon wallet?

## **Case 1: You use the same browser where you have created your Demon wallet**
After a period of idle (which you can customize in 'Menu > Security & Privacy > Auto-Lock Timer' to up to 8 hours), your Demon wallet will be locked to secure your assets. To re-access the wallet, you have to unlock it. If you don't know how, please follow these steps:

**Step 1:** Visit the Demon wallet page at [demon.renec.foundation](https://demon.renec.foundation/) (For mobile phone users) or open the installed Demon wallet extension (For desktop users); you will be required to input your password on the first screen.

**NOTE:** You might be confused when you see a list of 5 accounts, even though on your previous device, the number of accounts on your wallet is less than 5. Excess accounts are new accounts that RENEC automatically generates for you. You can choose to use them, or ignore them and choose only the accounts that are familiar to you.

If you want to lock the wallet, go to the menu at the top left corner and click on the 'Lock Wallet' button at the footer.

What if I forgot my Demon wallet password?

You must retain your Secret Recovery Phrase to be able to re-access your fund. Since the Demon wallet extension and the web wallet are both non-custodial wallets it means the wallet or the foundation never stores your Secret Recovery Phrase and you are the only person who knows this Secret Phrase, there is nothing the RENEC Foundation team or anyone else can do to help you access your wallet. Always back up your Secret Recovery Phrase offline and store it somewhere safe.

**Warning:** DO NOT share your Secret Recovery Phrase with anyone! If someone has access to your Secret Recovery Phrase, they will have access to your wallet. RENEC Foundation support will NEVER ask you for your Secret Recovery Phrase or your private key.

What if I lost my secret recovery phrase?

Once you’ve purchased cryptocurrency, you must decide whether to use a custodial versus non-custodial wallet to store your funds:

* **With a custodial wallet**, another party controls your private keys. In other words, you’re trusting a third party to secure your funds and return them if you want to trade or send them somewhere else. While a custodial wallet lessens personal responsibility, it requires trust in the custodian that holds your funds, which is usually a cryptocurrency exchange. 
* **With a non-custodial wallet**, you have sole control of your private keys, which control your cryptocurrency and prove the funds are yours. While there is no need to trust a third party when using a non-custodial wallet, this also means that you are solely responsible for not losing your keys and requires that you take your own precautions to protect your funds.

Non-custodial wallets can be browser-based, they can come in the form of software installed on mobile devices or on desktops, or they can be hardware devices, among other options. Although they can take many forms, the most secure way to hold your cryptocurrency is using hardware wallets. These crypto wallets usually look like a USB storage device.

While non-custodial wallets don’t require you to trust a third party, they require you to trust yourself to keep your keys and your wallet secure. If you were to lose your wallet, destroy your wallet, or forget your password, and you haven’t taken precautions to be able to regenerate your wallet, you could lose access to your funds.

According to the above definition, **Demon is a user-controlled, non-custodial wallet**. The app generates a 24-word recovery phrase which is what gives you, and only you, access to your account containing funds.

If you think your Secrete Recovery Phrase is compromised, you should stop using this wallet immediately. If you have assets in it, you should immediately withdraw to a new and secured wallet address. 

Always be careful, and never trust anyone asking you to share your Secret Recovery Phrase under any circumstances. RENEC Foundation support will NEVER ask you to do this. We advise that you stop using the hacked wallet immediately and create a new one.

How to deposit/send RENEC to/from Demon wallet?

All transactions made on the blockchain are **final and irreversible**. The decentralized nature of blockchains means that nobody has the ability to reverse transactions once they have been made.
Unless you know the owner of the wallet, tokens sent to the wrong wallet address are most likely lost forever. RENEC Foundation has no way to access the funds in anyone's wallet and therefore has no way to reverse a transaction. 
Please be careful and always double check that you are sending the correct token to the correct address.

I sent tokens to the wrong wallet address. What to do?

You must always have RENEC in your wallet to do any transactions. The recommended minimum amount to keep in your wallet is **0.000005 RENEC**.
Gas is a network fee for sending a transaction, and every transaction on RENEC Blockchain will need some RENEC.
There are also instances where the RENEC Blockchain is congested, and may be difficult to confirm a transaction. This is usually during times of low TPS.

Why did my transaction fail?

Centralized exchanges often can delay crediting your crypto to your account.
If you have checked the transaction on [the explorer](https://explorer.RENEC.foundation/) and it shows up as received, and you have checked the address, then the next step is to wait.

This is how it often works, for example, with a Remitano wallet:
1. You send 1 RENEC from a Demon wallet to a Remitano wallet address. You have checked the address is correct before sending it, and it arrived at the receiver's address within seconds.
1. The exchange may create a different address for you each time you deposit. The coins are received, and their internal processes allocate the RENEC to your account. This time can take seconds, hours, or days. If it takes longer than a few hours, you should contact their support.
1. If you check the explorer, you will often see the RENEC has arrived, and then been sent to a different wallet. This is normal with some exchanges.

**NOTE:** There is no way to reverse a transaction, so ensure you only copy and paste, or use the QR reader, for the address. Also, check the first 4 characters, and last 4 characters, before sending any funds.

RENEC Blockchain is a blockchain based on the Delegate Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus protocol. With this protocol, RENEC token holders will choose several nodes operated by validators (node runners & transaction confirmations) to run the network on their behalf and share a portion of the rewards. This action is called 'staking'.
By staking your RENEC tokens, you help secure the network and earn rewards while doing so.
You can stake by delegating your tokens to validators who process transactions and run the network.
Delegating stake is a shared-risk shared-reward financial model that may provide returns to holders of tokens delegated for a long period. This is achieved by aligning the financial incentives of the token-holders (delegators) and the validators to whom they delegate.
The more stake delegated to a validator, the more often this validator is chosen to write new transactions to the ledger. The more transactions the validator writes, the more rewards the validator and its delegators earn. Validators who configure their systems to be able to process more transactions earn proportionally more rewards and because they keep the network running as fast and as smoothly as possible.
Validators incur costs by running and maintaining their systems, and this is passed on to delegators in the form of a fee collected as a percentage of rewards earned. This fee is known as a commission. Since validators earn more rewards the more stake is delegated to them, they may compete with one another to offer the lowest commission for their services.
You risk losing tokens when staking through a process known as slashing. Slashing involves the removal and destruction of a portion of a validator's delegated stake in response to intentional malicious behavior, such as creating invalid transactions or censoring certain types of transactions or network participants.

You can start your RENEC staking experience with just a few basic steps:

How do I unstake?

Why does my stake say 'Activating' or 'Deactivating' still?

If you are having trouble unstaking or withdrawing your RENEC, it could be for the following reasons:
* You don't have enough RENEC in your wallet to pay for the transaction. RENEC being staked can't be used to pay for transactions so you will need to deposit a little more. 
* Your stake is still 'Activating' or 'Deactivating'. You will need to wait for your stake to be 'Inactive' (Undelegating) in order to withdraw it. It could take up to 2-3 days. How do I withdraw my stake?

Staking rewards are distributed proportionally to all participants who stake RENEC in the pool operated by validators. The distribution percentage depends on the ratio of RENEC you stake in the pool minus the validator pool participation commission.

**Example:** The reward for a block is 100 RENEC with a 10% pool commission. These 100 RENECs are distributed according to each participant's stake as follows:
* Commission received by Validator: 100 * 10% = 10 RENEC
* All authorized person receive: 100 - Commission = 90 RENEC
After that, each delegate will receive their reward in 90 RENEC, corresponding to the % RENEC they stake in the pool.

**NOTE:** In addition to the commission, the validator receives a transaction fee on the blockchain.
